5 vs 30 vs 60 seconds — resolution vs battery

Three ATC700 units rode the same car+cycle day with identical daily keep-alive, but different On Move intervals. Same route — different path density and drain.

3 units in parallel Provisional · ~74 min ride Cape Town · 8 Aug 2026
Not long enough for a firm battery conclusion This parallel soak was only about 74 minutes of movement. BatteryLevel reports in coarse ~5% steps, so drain rankings between 5 / 30 / 60 s are directional at best. A longer ride plus an overnight parked (Stop = 86400 s) soak are still required before locking a production On Move interval.

Three legs, one afternoon

Car to Camps Bay, cycle loop to Llandudno and back, then car home — about 74 minutes total.

Battery and spacing

Aligned on movement, not clock time Battery % is plotted against elapsed minutes from movement start so the three CFGs (and a prior 1 s maxres car segment) share the same X-axis. Teltonika reports battery in coarse ~5% steps — so 30 s / 60 s lines can sit on one step for a while even while the pack is still draining. Point counts are lower at longer intervals (sparser tracks), not missing legs.

Method notes

Shared setup All three units used daily_keepalive with On Stop save/send = 86400 s (one ping per day while parked). On Move was the only variable: 5 / 30 / 60 s. Static Navigation stayed enabled.
Observed ≈ 2× configured move interval Teltonika high-priority Codec 8 records often land at roughly double the configured On Move period in the field (same pattern as our 1 s maxres soak). Treat CFG as a floor, not a guarantee.

Units …1100 and …7065 may show imei_validated: false in server logs; AVL positions and battery readings were still usable for this report. On Stop keep-alive at 24 h was not exercised in this short window — a future parked soak will measure it.
